Functional description: |
The command transforms a vector
lines or polylines, made by some of CAD tools, into TeleCAD-GIS
route. |
|
Convert to Route command is used to transform
vector line or vector polyline into a TCG route.
Clarification: |
There are two types of lines in AutoCAD:
- Line - straight line defined by its start and end point.
- Polyline - zigzag line defined by multiple points (open
or closed)
TCG route is the "Line" type. |
Whether it is line or polyline being transformed into a TCG route, the
result is always "Line" type object.
This means that the result is as many route segments as the starting objects,
if the "Line" type objects were transformed into a TCG route.
By transforming a "Polyline" type object more route segments
are created, depending on how zigzagged the "Polyline" object
was.
During the transforming, the newly created TCG routes are assigned properties
defined through system settings.
Conversion to route is used if there is a vector survey plan with a
trench/conduit/cable route where the plan itself was not previously processed
in TeleCAD-GIS.
Procedure
From the main menu run Routing > Convert to
Route command.
The cursor is shown as a small rectangle with the message beside it reading
"Select objects (lines, polylines) to convert:".
We select polylines (in the example the polylines are pink).
(Multiple objects may be selected.)

Figure 1
Once all the polylines that are to be transformed into a TCG route are
selected,
the command is executed by right-clicking or by pressing ENTER key.
The polylines are transformed into TCG routes.
The newly created routes are assigned with properties defined in system
settings.

Figure 2
The process of transforming vector lines into TCG routes is now complete.
The newly created routes are now the same as if drawn by using Draw
Route command.
